Karnataka Mining Environment Restoration Corporation (KMERC)

KMERC is a specialized entity that oversees and implements environmental restoration projects in mining-affected areas. It was formed in response to directives from the Supreme Court of India to ensure ecological rehabilitation and sustainable development in regions impacted by mining activities. KMERC manages funds allocated for restoration under the Comprehensive Environment Plan for Mining Impact Zone (CEPMIZ) and coordinates with various departments to execute approved projects. Its focus includes afforestation, water conservation, soil stabilization, and community welfare.
